On Friday, October 8, 2021, Roger Otto Erdmann, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 70 after a long, 10-year battle with metastatic prostate cancer. He was born in the Town of Vinland on November 28, 1950. He grew up on an 80 acre dairy farm in the Town of Vinland with his 3 brothers. He went to Gillingham Elementary School, Neenah Middle School and graduated from Neenah High School in 1968.
He married his high school sweetheart, Pat, on May 15, 1971.
He worked for, and retired from, J.J. Keller & Assoc. in Neenah. Lived and passed in the Town of Vinland.
He is preceded in death by: John and Hilda Erdmann (Parents), Frank Blechl (Father-in-law), Randy and Frank Steven Blechl (Brothers-in-law), and Tammy Blechl (Sister-in-law).
He is survived by: Wife, Patsy (Blechl) Erdmann; Ryan Erdmann (Son), Dylan Sager (step-grandson), Grayson (step great-grandson), Lillyonna (step great-granddaughter); Devin Erdmann (Grandson), Kayson (great-grandson); Kassandra (granddaughter).
Daughter, Julie Groff (Erdmann) & Colin Groff (Son-in-law), Parker Groff (Grandson), Allie Groff (Granddaughter); Lois Blechl (Mother-in-law); Brothers: Roy Erdmann (Debbie), Dean Erdmann, (Kristin), and Robert Erdmann. Mike and Ellen Blechl, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Mary and Edward VanRavenstein, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Loretta Blechl, sister-in-law; Diane Blechl, sister-in-law; Dan Blechl, brother-in-law; Alan and Melanie Blechl, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Bruce Blechl, brother-in-law.
Roger’s first career was carpentry in home construction, working for Walter Stahl from 1968-1971.
He then worked for J.J. Keller & Assoc. for 44 years (1971-2015) where he was awarded the James J. Keller Acorn Operational Excellence Award in 2014. Roger was honored to work for them. He never complained about his job, only spoke highly of it and the company. He was a hard-working man who took pride in his work.
Roger was a “jack of all trades”-a master wood-worker. He enjoyed sporting clay and trap shooting, hunting deer, grouse, pheasant, turkey, wild boar and other small game; 4-wheeling, truck ice-racing, and was a large fan of the Alaskan Iditarod. Roger also enjoyed cheering on his kids and cherished grandkids at sporting events.
Roger was a warm, loving, supportive man who looked at things in a positive way, always.
His cancer was treated at UW-Madison Oncology Research Dept. His participation in these cancer studies helped others in many ways. The family would like to acknowledge his hospice nurse, Kaitlyn Mueller, for her genuine care.
Roger had many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, special hunting friends and neighbors with whom he respected. He was a member of St. Jude Sacred Heart Parish (Oshkosh).
His funeral will be held at Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah on Thursday, October 14th, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
