Obituary

Karlene S. Neubauer, age 90, of Neenah, passed away peacefully at the Valley VNA on Monday, October 4, 2021 with her family by her side.  Karlene was born on April 5, 1931 in Neenah; daughter of the late Alfred and Leone (Regal) Sawyer.  She graduated from Neenah High School in 1949 and then went to work for Equitable Reserve until her marriage to John “Jack” Neubauer on August 21, 1954.  In later years Karlene worked part-time for Ling Products/Banta Healthcare, retiring after 30 years.

Karlene lead a very full life.  She and Jack enjoyed many weekends at their cabin in Crandon with their kids and many friends. They also enjoyed many trips with wonderful friends to warm climates.  Her move to The Highlands at Mahler Park was like going home, she made so many friends that she cherished to the end. For all that knew her, she loved Bingo, Bunko, working on puzzles, making banana bread and grasshoppers for friend’s birthdays and anniversaries, and especially being the Highlands “Bookie” for Packer games and horse races.

Karlene is survived by her four children: Margie (Scott) Schultz, Jane (Jerry) Clusen, Tim (Pattie) Neubauer, and Lynn Horn (Randy Dandliker); four grandchildren: Karly (Lucas) Pottorff, Brian (Kelly) Schultz, Katie Neubauer, and Molly (Brandan) Belanger; four great-grandchildren: Aidan and Wyatt Kletschka, Riley Pottorff, Chloe Belanger and twin Belangers due in November.  She is further survived by her brother-in-law, James (Karen) Neubauer, and many nieces and nephews; and Kahlifa Bah who was a source of strength, comfort and friendship to both mom and dad over the past 12 years.

In addition to her husband Jack, Karlene was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, sister Mardelle (Carlton) Giese and twin brother, Carl (Grace) Sawyer, and two sons-in-law Jim Horn and Allen Blakemore.
