...and for an instant, I held time within my hands...
Karl J. Wirtz, age 23, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Karl was born in Milwaukee on January 15, 1998. Karl attended Hortonville High School and Neenah High School, graduating from Neenah with the class of 2016. He enjoyed playing soccer, writing, playing the piano and writing cadence poetry. He liked to watch Battle Rap, and he was always excited when he wrote a great “bar.” Karl enjoyed being with friends and family. He especially enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and Bucks with his dad or his friends.
He was loved dearly by his family and his many friends, and he is going to be missed. We will miss his smile, which could light up a room. We will miss the fact that he could hold a conversation with just about anyone, and make it meaningful. We will miss his drive to improve himself through writing and through his studies.
Karl is survived by his parents, Ken and Bridget (McGinnis) Wirtz and Maytae Vang; his siblings, Katherine “Kayla” (Griffin) Tedlie, and their daughter Esra (whom Karl adored) and Marcus Wirtz; Wyomi, Phayvanh and Nuwang Jones. He is also survived by his grandparents, Tom and Mary McGinnis, Jerry and Sue Wirtz, Cha and May Vang; aunts and uncles, Vicki (Scott) Roberts, Ted (Jan) McGinnis, Mike (Trisha) McGinnis, Peggy (Mark) Fisherkeller, Diane (Michael) Moss, Paul (Candi) Wirtz, Tom (Deb) Wirtz, Tim (Becky) Wirtz, Janine (Russ) Bessemer, Kathy (Kurt) Jensen, Ron (Sarah) Wirtz, Randy (Kalla) Wirtz, Michelle (Jaime) Kuhn, LeAnne (Kevin Strahota) Wirtz, numerous cousins and family companion, “Cooper”.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
