JoAnn M. Stratton, age 74, of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 26, 2021 doing one of her favorite things, taking a relaxing bath. JoAnn was born in Appleton on October 10, 1946 daughter of the late Dennis and Eileen (Weynberg) Long. She graduated from Neenah High School in 1965 and then attended Cosmetology School in Appleton. JoAnn was a hairdresser at various hair salons in Neenah and Menasha for over 50 years, including at Kessler Funeral Home for 51 years.
JoAnn was an avid collector of many items including Rare coins and Elvis Collectibles. Over the years JoAnn was like a second mother to all she interacted with. She absolutely loved cooking for the masses. For the last ten years she has cooked legend dinners for her son Curt’s work family on Thanksgiving and Christmas. A real one woman machine! The meals grew from just family to about 100 people as of the last few. JoAnn was a hard worker and was always there to listen or lend a helping hand, never complaining. She had a special bond with her grandson Pierson and loved spending time with him.
JoAnn is survived by her sons; James and Curt Stratton; her grandson Pierson Stratton; siblings, Judy (Thomas) Schoepel, Carol (Michael) Bogan, Dennis (Patti) Long and Timothy (Sarah) Long. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her special friend, Skip Schurer. In addition to Skip, Joann survived one of her nieces whom she had developed a special relationship as well, Kathy Bogan who died too young due to brain cancer.
