Janice Rae Schmitzer passed away on February 27, 2022 at her home, just shy of her 86th birthday. Janice was born on March 12, 1936 in Green Bay, the daughter of the late John and Lillian Tubbs. Janice was raised on the family farm and active in 4H for over twenty-five years. Always interested in activities, Janice was a member of the Seymour Cardinals State Championship Girls Fastpitch team. She also loved to bowl and picked up golfing in retirement. If she wasn’t on the course golfing, you could always find her in the bleachers cheering on her children and then grandchildren's sporting activities.
Janice was a hairdresser in the Fox Valley for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was also an active member in Catholic Daughters, the Paynes Point Hook & Spear Club and numerous Bridge Clubs. One of her many claims to fame was her cooking and baking. Family, friends and neighbors were some of the lucky recipients of her tasty breads, cinnamon rolls, German potato salad, canned pickles and beets.
Janice is survived by her children. Daughters Stacy (David) Frakes, Neenah, Carrie Kasten, Fox Crossing and Vicky (Mark) Holt, Winneconne and son Mike (Mary) Schmitzer who Janice was able to assist in raising; seven grandchildren, Jacob (Becky) Frakes, Jordan (Mark) Vanderloop, Bryce, Addie and Elliot Kasten, Tyler (fiance’ Alexis Hill) Holt and Alexandra Holt. Truly blessed, Janice is also survived by three great grandchildren, Morgan Frakes and Grace and Jack Vanderloop. Janice leaves behind a sister Jane (fiance’ Steve Young) Dorn and a brother John Tubbs, Jr. in addition to sister in-law and brother-in-law Nancy and David Resch, sisters-in-law Joan Helein, Janet Aldrich, Linda Tubbs, brother-in-law Gary Dorn and son-in-law Cody Kasten. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Janice is preceded in death by her husband, James Schmitzer, parents John and Lillian Tubbs, her identical twin sister Janet Krueger, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kay and Jerry Plier, brothers-in-law Bill Helein, Merk Krueger and Gary Aldrich.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division Street, Neenah. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
