Obituary

James “Tom” Thomas Teague, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on July 19, 2022 with his family at his side at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI at the age of 75. Tom was born March 21, 1947 in Marion, IL to the late Julian and Katherine (Oglesby) Teague. He graduated from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale where he studied Mechanical Engineering.

An avid lover of aviation, he spent many hours in the sky flying recreationally while living in Southern Illinois. It was there that he met his wife, Patricia “Pat” (Simmons) Teague. They married August 11, 1984 in Carbondale. He worked for many years with several airlines, including Air Wisconsin, which brought him to Appleton where he and his wife raised two daughters, Caitlin and Kelley. He would switch careers later in life, retiring as an Escrow Officer in 2017 from Evans Title.

Tom was lucky in his friends, from the life-long friends made in his hometown of Marion, IL, on through the years until his passing in Appleton. He took great joy in visiting family and friends in Southern Illinois, watching SIU basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals, attending EAA in Oshkosh, and spending much of his free time in his retirement at the Paper Valley Model Railroad Club. He was a man that found joy in many things, learning and talking about history, tinkering with broken electronics, and rewatching a favorite film for the hundredth time. He will be greatly missed, and joyfully remembered.

Tom is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters: Caitlin (Kellen) Teague Doerr, and Kelley (Matt) Malott; sisters: Kay Beatty, and Mary Jo (Glenn) Twenhafel; niece, Gayle Beatty; and nephew, Bert Beatty.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Bill Beatty.

A celebration of life will be held and the details will be updated on this page.
