James “Red” Wilde, age 82, passed away at his residence on Monday, March 28, 2022 in Menasha. On May 28, 1939, Red was born in Ottumwa, Iowa. During his early years, his family moved to the Menasha area.
Upon graduating from Menasha High School, Red enlisted in the United States Army serving for three years, being discharged in March of 1961. While serving, he learned photography which he enjoyed well into his adult years. After the military, Red started scraping paint off of barns and repainting them, which ultimately resulted in him liking the trade well enough for him to own his own residential painting business, Homes By James.
Along the way, Red had met Patricia Gressler and after being together for many years, decided to get married in 1991. She unfortunately passed away a few years later.
In his spare time, he was a sports enthusiast and loved watching the NY Yankees as well as women’s and men’s basketball.
Red will be missed by his daughter, Kimberley Rusch; grandchildren: Kyleah Rusch and Colin Rusch; his best friends: Tony and Jean Palma and Kay, Pat and Howard Burroughs; as well as his loving cat, Whiskers.
In addition to his wife and parents, Red was also preceded in death by other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Red on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Cranky Pat's Pizza, 905 S. Commercial Street in Neenah.
