Gloria Jean Cassens, age 74, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 12, 2020. Gloria was born on September 3, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana, daughter of the late Robert and Elsie (Morelock) Newkirk. She graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1964 and also attended Judson College where she pursued a teaching degree.
Gloria was a very sweet and giving person. She enjoyed quilting and gifting them to family and friends she knew would cherish them. She was a volunteer for “Little Dresses” of Africa that makes dresses for needy families in Africa, as well as a member of Al-Anon. Gloria was a hospice worker and an amazing receptionist in the health care field. Early in her life she was a schoolteacher. She also loved her animals and enjoyed having them around her all the time.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Terri (Chad) Hauser, her brother, Paul (Tonya) Newkirk, and her niece, Amanda (Paul) Kruse. She is also survived by her cat Rosie. Gloria was preceded in death by her pet dog’s, Jenny, Tess, Cassie, Nicola, Vinny, Annie and Rusty and many feline friends. A private family gathering will be held at Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations please be sent to the Fox Valley Humane Association, N115 Two Mile Rd., Appleton, WI 54914.
