Donald George Berger, 94, Neenah, died on Tuesday September 21, 2021. He was born on August 2, 1927 in Milwaukee, son of George and Dolores (Knoelke) Berger. Don attended Menasha High School from 1941 to 1945. At that time, he was a lifeguard for Jefferson Park, Menasha, and a talented drummer with the Bobby Hughes Band. Don served in the Army state-side and upon discharge married his sweetheart, Gloria Lillian Pomerenka on December 4, 1948 in Oshkosh. Members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah, Don and Gloria raised two sons, Michael and Patrick and were also devoted to their beloved dogs, Rex and Bingo. Don was a professional lithographer for over 35 years and a talented wood-worker. His custom crafted furniture, shelves and birdhouses are true family treasurers. Always ready with a quick joke and to share a beer, Don was a loving man cherished by family, neighbors and friends. Survived by his sons Michael (Marie) and Patrick (Amy) Berger; grandchildren Rebekah (David) Weiss and Rachel (Ian) Thomas; and great grandchildren Payton, Frederick, Adela, Leopold and Oletta. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; sister Lois Bergmann; sister-in-law Deloris Lirot; and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 2, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak Street, Neenah, with Pastor Tony McKenzie officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church.
