He grew up in Greenville and graduated from Hortonville High School where he participated in many sports. Derek worked at Oshkosh Door, a job which he loved. Together, they enjoyed many activities including fishing, camping, sledding, football, going to parks, swimming, and just being together. Derek’s sister, mother and step- father, along with his kids made his family complete. Derek was a humble, kind, loving, gentle soul and was loved by everyone who knew him.
