David C. Jording age 78 of Sherwood, was called home to his eternal glory on Sunday, March 27, 2022. David was born on February 12, 1944 in Quincy, Illinois son of the late Clifford and Bess (Brackley) Jording.
David attended St. James Lutheran School and Quincy High School, both in Quincy, Illinois. He attended Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois for his undergraduate and graduate work. David was a teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Sheboygan, Wisconsin from 1966-1981. From 1981 to 1983 he was the Administrator and Teacher at St. John’s , Algonquin, Illinois. In 1983 he returned to Wisconsin and served as Teacher and Administrator at Trinity Lutheran School, Menasha, Wisconsin until retirement. Upon retiring, David became the Regional Superintendent for the South Wisconsin District, The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Sheboygan/Winnebago Regions and retired recently from this position.
David is survived by his wife, Joann; his children: Jennifer (Paul) Bassuener and Matthew (Cindy) Jording; his grandchildren: Timothy and Ryan Bassuener, Sirena (Troy) Thompson, Teagan Janness-Jording and Spencer Jording. David is also survived by his sister, Cheri Schettl, in-laws, Margo Miller and Linda (Rich) Mettemeyer; two special nephews, Adam and Reed Schettl, and many additional nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law Alice and George Martin and a niece Reon Altgilbers.
Funeral services for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH 300 Broad St., Menasha with Rev. Keith GeRue officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
