Dale G. Whitney, passed away peacefully in his sleep at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Neenah on the morning of May 2, 2022 at the age 90 from complications after suffering a debilitating stroke.
On March 13, 1932, Dale was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin to the late Clair and Lillian (Koenamann) Whitney.
Dale joined the Navy after high school where he was able to see the world and fight for his country in the Korean War.
He was a quiet and humble man who worked most of his adult life at Menasha Corporation in Neenah and spent much of his off time reading, gardening, fishing, duck hunting and taking short trips with his family.
After retiring he found great joy and solitude in long walks around the lake with his many wildlife companions especially his friends, the geese, that he was on a first name basis with. He also took great pride in what started out as a retirement hobby of wildlife wood carving but he quickly became very good at it entering and winning many competitions over the years.
Dale is survived by his children: Doug (Carol) Whitney, Mark (Tammy) Whitney, Lynn Gray and William (Jennifer) Whitney, Calavino (Doria) Donati, Susan Roberts and George Whitney as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers: Jay Whitney, Donald (Marty) Whitney, Allen (Sandy) Whitney; and Tony Baker, who held a special place in his heart.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty (Boelter) Whitney and his second wife, Rose (Van Den Hueval) Whitney; his sister, Patsy (Gilbert) Moore; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Whitney.
