Obituary

Betty J. Quinn, age 95, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Brewster Village in Appleton.  On June 3, 1927, Betty Jane was born to Louis and Lillian (Mabis) Kretlow but raised by her godmother Evelyn and husband Joe Parchen.  As a young girl, she had to grow up quickly, graduating high school at the age of 16 and on to college to start her career.  While working as a secretary for Morley Murphy Co. of Milwaukee, Betty met the manager of the TV service department, Donald “Don” Quinn.  It didn’t take long for them to realize they were going to spend their lives together.  They were united in marriage on June 16, 1951 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Milwaukee.  A few years after their marriage, they moved to Neenah to eventually own and operate Quinn’s TV and Appliance until 1989.  Betty was very focused and driven to help make the business a success.  Betty was a devoted volunteer for the Theda Clark women’s auxiliary for many years.  She enjoyed outdoor gardening by creating a sanctuary for her family and the birds.  Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles daily.  She enjoyed 6 wonderful years at Island Shores and made many friends.  She was a person who was always in the driver’s seat.

Betty will be missed by her loving children:  Scott (Reiko) Quinn, Mark (Sue) Quinn, Mary Vara, Nanci (Rick) Smith, and Anne Quinn-Ross; her grandchildren:  Unsook, Youngsoon, Zen, Ryan (Amber), Leah, Scott, Lesley, and Logan; great-grandchildren:  Chloe, Jade, Tobias, and Finley; her brother, Donald (Ginny) Kretlow; a sister-in-law, Joanne Wichman; as well as many relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son Dennis; sisters:  Lorraine Schwenn and Dorothy McDonald; brothers:  Col. Stanley and Col. Sydney Kretlow; her brothers-in-law:  Bill Quinn, Howard Schwenn, Bill McDonald, and Merle Wichman; sisters-in-law:  Rita Quinn, Emma Jane Kretlow, and Ann Marie Kretlow; a son-in-law, Dan Vara, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
