- About Us
Sharon L. Sanders, age 83, of Neenah rejoiced on Sunday, February 24, 2019 when I was welcomed home in Heaven. I was born February 15, 1936, in Chicago, daughter to the late Steven and Cedell (Dougherty) Van Meter.
I was united in marriage to Rolla 'Sandy' Sanders on May 30, 1959. We enjoyed 59 years together. I worked for the City of Neenah, in the water department until I retired in 1998. I continued to work at J.C.Penneys until my second retirement. They say I was a wonderful cook and an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In my spare time I enjoyed spending time with my grandchildren and time in my garden. I was always told I had a green thumb when it came to planting my garden and flowers; I was always so proud of how they would grow and flourish. I enjoyed time spent with family and many loving friends.
I am survived by my husband Rolla Sanders; three children: Wayde (Wendy) Sanders, Rodney (Karen) Sanders, Stacy (Brad) Schmidt; five grandchildren: Ryan, and Tate Sanders, Anna Sommers, Hayden (Brandon) Fitzgerald, Shawn Schmidt; and one great grandchild, Parker Sommers. I was preceded in death and reunited to my daughter, Lisa Sanders; my mother and father Steven and Cedell Van Meter; brother, Casey Van Meter; mother and father-in-law, Rolla and Ruth Sanders; brother-in-law, Robert Sanders; and sister-in-law, Barb Sanders.
A special thank you to all of the caregivers and friends that helped my husband and I through my times of need.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 200 S Church St, Neenah, with Rev. Paul Huxtable officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
