Sara Christine (Hartman) EwingJanuary 10, 1977 ~ April 27, 2017 (age 40)
Sara C. Ewing, 40, Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017, exactly one year after her husband Darrell died. She was born on January 10, 1977, in Oshkosh, daughter of Donald and Joan (Shoemaker) Hartman. Sara was born with Spina Bifida and battled health issues throughout her life, requiring dozens of hospital stays and surgeries. Despite her physical challenges, Sara lived a full life, devoting time to family and friends, advocating for causes she supported, painting, writing, and other creative pursuits, including self-publishing her own book of poetry. Everyone who knew her loved the warm, funny, sassy, smart, person she was, filled with compassion and strong personal convictions. In 2012, Sara married the love of her life, Darrell Ewing, who was also challenged by Spina Bifida. It is comforting to know that the two are companions once again.
Sara is survived by her parents; 6 siblings: Melinda (Larry) Klementson, Dorinda (Rick) Smith, Michael (Maggie Nyland) Hartman, Jennifer (Jason) Blank, Jill Peachy, and Elizabeth (Tyler) Luebke; 11 nieces and nephews: Cody, Tonya, Justin (Jess), Jarret, Cali, Rachel, Eric, Ryan, Peyton, Meghan, and Lawson; many great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband, and an aunt: Carol Riley.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah, with Rev. Ruby Kleinschmidt officiating. A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Park View Health Center, 725 Butler Ave., Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Spina Bifida Association at www.spinabifidaassociation.org.
Sara's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Park View and Heartland Hospice. Also, a special thank you to Sara's friends Tori, Trisha, Becky, and Reverend Ruby for their dedication and love for Sara.
