Patrick F. McCarthy, age 76, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018. Patrick was born May 27, 1942, son of the late Harman and Helen (McNichols) McCarthy.  Patrick married Kathy Mahoney on October 20, 1979. She preceded him in death in 2016. They were members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton.

Pat led the family business, McCarthy-Haertl Jewelers, for 28 years in Neenah. His jewelry career transitioned to sales with territory throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states, and he previously served as president of the Wisconsin Jewelers Association. During his retirement years, he was a school bus driver and enjoyed the kids on his route. He was a longtime member of the Sports Car Club of America, and earned several “worker of the year” awards during his 50-year involvement with Road America in Elkhart Lake. He loved his family and his kindness touched countless more.

Patrick is survived by two sons: Patrick (Teresa), Steven (Barbara); three stepchildren: Paula (Erik) Norbom, Andrea (Fred) Maples, Eric (Lucy) Hansen. His legacy includes 16 grandchildren: Darby, Payton and Marilyn McCarthy, Catherine Conway; Sarah, Ryan, and Kevin McCarthy; Noah and Jonah Mische, Christopher Norbom; Trevor, Austin, and Connor Maples; Sean, Kathleen and Sara Hansen. His sisters preceded him in death: Susan (Richard) Hess and Ann (Allen) Pakalski-Michels.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2018, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2330 E. Calumet St., Appleton, with Pastor Roger McQuistion and Pastor Jennifer DeNetz officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

The family would like to give special thanks to his nieces Gretchan Diegel, Paige Hess, and Kristen Zagrodnik, for all the care and compassion given to Patrick.
