Mary E. Thurber Rzentkowski, age 83, passed away May 7, 2018. She was born in Wisconsin Rapids, December 9, 1934 to the late Reinhold and Janette (Black) Pegelow.
Mary received her nursing degree in Los Angeles, California and was a medical-surgery board certified RN. She worked for years at VA hospitals in Wisconsin, California, and Michigan, caring for our veterans, eventually moving on to caring for the elderly in nursing homes until she retired.
Mary was an avid gardener and enjoyed quilting, sewing, traveling to classic auto shows, and researching genealogy. She also loved art and enjoyed painting.
Mary loved her family and is survived by her four sons: Jamie (Bobbi); Dennis; Allen (Lea); and Douglas (Angie) Thurber, daughter, Vicki Rzentkowski, ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two brothers: Gary Pegelow and Gordon Harmon, and sister, Elaine Lachman. She is further preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Thurber and Victor Rzentkowski; four brothers: William Preston; Eugene Harmon; James and Larry Pegelow, and sister, Janette Everson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at KESSLER FUNERAL HOME, 304 S. Commercial Street, Neenah, WI, with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
