Lawrence H. "Lorny" JohnsonMay 21, 1937 ~ December 16, 2017 (age 80)
Lawrence Lorny (Larry) Johnson, age 80, of Iola, formerly of Neenah, died suddenly of natural causes on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at his home. Born on May 21, 1937 in Neenah, he was the son of the late Roy and Frieda Hoehne Johnson. After graduating from Neenah High School in 1955, he earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Lawrence married his high school sweetheart, Judy (Geri) Parks and they have enjoyed 58 years of marriage. After retiring from Citizens First Credit Union they moved north to Iola. There, he spent his days surrounded by nature with the love of his life. In retirement, he and his wife started a photography business. They enjoyed taking trips to scenic locations and meeting new people through art shows and photography groups. After a long day you could always find Lawrence on his porch, dog CJ by his side, taking in the peaceful view.
He had many hobbies throughout his life including painting, drawing and woodworking. He was an avid reader and history buff, always having a fun fact to share. He loved to try out new recipes and knew his way around the kitchen. Lawrence had a kind, gentle soul. He brought love and laughter wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife Judy, son Steve (Lynn) Johnson, granddaughter Brandy, grandson Ted (Sarah) Johnson and great-grandson Alex. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mardee Parks and Darlene Johnson, brother-in-law John (Darlene) Parks, and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marion Burrow and Joyce Beckerson, a brother Howard and a brother-in-law Jim Parks.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m.
