Kenneth Flunker age 85 of Neenah, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Valley VNA Senior Care. Ken was born on September 12, 1932 in Fremont, son of the late Ernest and Amalia (Meydam) Flunker. He married Elsbeth Tornow on June 30, 1968. Ken retired from American Can/James River after many years of employment. He was a faithful member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neenah, serving in many capacities including church boards and councils, singing in the choir, mowing the lawn and ushering. Known for his sense of humor, Ken always had a glimmer in his eye and would often "break the ice" with a good joke (or a bad pun.) He enjoyed working in the yard and tending to the vegetable garden. Cribbage and Sheephead were his favorite card games, and he participated in both bowling and dartball leagues. He loved listening to music, whether it was polkas, sacred organ music or concerts by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Elsbeth, a son, Joel (Connie) Flunker, a daughter, Christine (John) Crofts; 5 grandchildren, Theodore, Elisabeth and Ruth Flunker and Benjamin and Alexander Crofts. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Marcella Westphal, and Joyce Ponto, and other relatives and friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bernhardt and Ernest Flunker, and 2 sisters, Margaret Pomerening and Sarah Pankow.
The Christian Funeral Service for Kenneth will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Lane, Neenah with Pastor Richard Frost officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Fremont. A memorial is being established.
