Daniel Vara, 68, Neenah, died Thursday, March 23, 2017. He was born on August 26, 1948, to the late Felipe and Margaret (Uranday) Vara in El Paso, TX. Daniel graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a PhD in Industrial Engineering. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy for 32 years, enlisting as a Corpsman, joined the Navy Seals and then became a Personnel Men (PN). Daniel was a Purple Heart recipient and served his country during the Vietnam conflict. He was united in marriage to Mary Quinn on August 27, 1994, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. Daniel loved to scuba dive on the travels he and Mary took together. Daniel was well traveled, he had seen the world.
He is survived by his wife Mary, sisters Rosalie (Rick) Costa and Alice (Daniel) Canas, brothers Patrick Vara and Michael (Socorro) Vara.
Memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah. Full military honors will be presented by Active Duty members of the U.S. Navy and the Neenah-Menasha Veterans Honors Team.
